Houses of Parliament Visit by Arun and Christina

By Arun

Today we went to visit the Houses of Parliament with the other school forum reps. We had to get to school at 8:15am and we set off and got to the train station at 8:30am.

We travelled on the train for about 30 minutes and passed lots of things on the way like the Shard and Millwall Football Stadium.  When we got there we put our coats and lunch in a wheely basket thing.

Next we went to the really fancy toilets and went into the House of Commons.  They talked about some rugby and sports laws.  We left and went to the Central Lobby with corridors to each of the houses.

We went into a room to do a challenge where we chose two things to make a new law about. We had to chose a name for our Party and look at how much it would cost.  We then had to present our idea to the other groups. When we had finished we went back to the fancy toilets.  Finally, we had lunch and came back to catch the train.

First we went to go and see Sophie (our tour guide) and we all got shown around the place.  We went to the place where they make the laws.  Then we also had to walk a lot to get there but there were plenty of places to sit.

We all got split into two groups and went to a workshop where we met the Minister for Kent.  He lives in Barnehurst and works next to the Prime Minister (10 Downing Street). After that we had to go and have lunch and then come home on the train.
